After service levels deteriorated with an existing service provider, we were contacted to provide reactive breakdown service to plug-in multideck fridges rented by large discount stores. As the hire company receives a fixed rental fee to include all repairs, competitive normal time call out rates, material costs and first fix rates were an important factor in selecting a new contractor as well as the ability to attend within 48 hours.
Many of the sites are located within shopping centre environments where flexibility is required to ensure centre health & safety protocols are followed especially where hot works are required.
We have been successful in reducing the down time of the rental equipment by ensuring the engineer’s van stocks contain all items that are replaceable within authorisation limits. We have reduced administration time taken up with quotes by implementing a schedule of rates for compressor replacements, keeping the common compressors in our stock to allow repairs to be authorised and completed more efficiently.
A preventative maintenance programme is currently being assessed in an effort to reduce the number of compressor failures.
